The Mission of Outright Vermont is to build safe, healthy, and supportive environments for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. Founded in 1989 by local gay and lesbian activists, ORVT helped to create visibility, support, and advocacy throughout the 90s for the queer youth community in Vermont. Our programs, groups, and services (unless otherwise stated) are for young LGBTQ (or queer) people, ages 22 and under.

R.U.1.2? Community Center celebrates, educates and advocates with and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) Vermonters. RU12? was founded in 1999 by two students at the University of Vermont who believed that Vermont needed a multi-generational queer space open to people of all ages, races and genders. RU12? is now the largest LGBTQ organization in Vermont, and the only LGBTQ community center in the state. RU12? is located at 34 Elmwood Avenue in Burlington – less than a block from the Church Street Marketplace.

The Samara Foundation of Vermont was established as a non-profit corporation in 1992 and operated until 1998 as the Human Rights Foundation of Vermont.

ACORN provides a full range of support services to people living with HIV/AIDS and Hep C in Orange and Windsor Counties of Vermont and Grafton and Sullivan Counties of New Hampshire. ACORN strives to stop the spread of HIV and Hep C by offering prevention information throughout our region. Our goal is to empower people to reduce their risk of contracting or spreading HIV and Hep C. ACORN offers confidential support groups for our clients and their partners. Our case managers can help clients locate doctors, dentists, lawyers, and mental health counselors who are especially sensitive to the needs of people with HIV/AIDS and Hep C. We can also make referrals to other social service agencies in the region.

Founded by volunteers in 1988 as a grassroots, community based group, the AIDS Project now fills an important statewide role in making sure that Vermont’s fight against the AIDS epidemic is strong and effective. Our mission is to provide direct services to those whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS, to offer education about HIV/AIDS to help prevent its spread, and to promote understanding within the communities served.
